Quiet Garden
Notes from a small garden
A place for observations that do not need to be urgent: what is growing, what the weather is doing, and which corners of the day are worth keeping.
Late October
The light arrives later now and leaves earlier. The last tomatoes are still ripening on the windowsill, stubborn and slightly green. Outside, the ground is cool but not yet cold.
Most of the work this week was small: clearing leaves from the path, moving a few pots closer to the wall, and making room for the things that will rest until spring.
A note on patience
Gardens are mostly a record of waiting. You make a reasonable decision, leave it alone, and then pay attention. Not everything responds on schedule, and that is usually part of the point.
